“A Supreme Evening 2025” – the annual dinner of the Florida Supreme Court Historical Society – was held on January 16 at the FSU Dunlap Champions Club in Tallahassee before an audience of 400 guests. Former Society Trustee President Hank Coxe was the master of ceremonies for the event. Bedell was a sponsor of the dinner, as it has been for several years.

The evening featured a fireside chat between Supreme Court Justice Jamie Grosshans and Georgetown University Law Professor Randy Barnett. As the Patrick Hotung professor of Constitutional Law at the Georgetown University Law Center and the Georgetown Center for the Constitution faculty director, Barnett shared insights from his memoir, “A Life for Liberty: The Making of an American Originalist,” which traced his journey from felony prosecutor to a leading voice in legal thought.

Chief Justice Carlos Muñiz also delivered a “State of the Court” presentation, offering attendees his perspective on the judiciary’s current landscape.

The highlight of the evening was Coxe’s presentation of the Susan Rosenblatt Lifetime Achievement Award to FSU Professor Chuck Ehrhardt, Florida’s legendary expert in the area of the law of evidence. During the presentation, Coxe quoted Patsy Palmer, wife of the late FSU and ABA President Sandy D’Alemberte, who said D’Alemberte considered Ehrhardt “one of the great figures in Florida’s legal community, who brought the law to life for generations of students and provided wise counsel to lawyers and judges throughout his career.”

As a longtime supporter of the Historical Society, Bedell is proud to help preserve the rich history of Florida’s courts and support ongoing legal education initiatives.
